Michigan falls to Wenatchee in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Town Toyota Center    Fri, Nov 08, 2013

The Wenatchee Wild's Chris Koukis scored 4:59 into overtime to beat the Michigan Warriors, 3-2 (OT).

Wenatchee was sparked by Koukis, who registered one goal.

The Wild stifled Michigan's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wenatchee relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Parker Tuomie, Sam Becker and Tanner Barnes took 22 of the team's 39 shots.

Wenatchee also got a goal from Andre Pison as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wenatchee were River Rymsha, Matthew Nuttle, and David Powlowski, who each chipped in one.

The Warriors put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Wild to score on any of their three power plays.

Michigan was helped by Jake Hopfner, who tallied one goal. Hopfner scored 5:22 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Michigan. Nick Govig also scored for Michigan. In addition, Michigan received assists from Connor Lyons, who had one.

Gustaf Johansson recorded 21 saves for Wenatchee. The Wild ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The Warriors' Trevor Gorsuch stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Michigan incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
