Amarillo squeaks by Lone Star, 4-2NYTX Arena Tue, Nov 05, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Amarillo Bulls and the Lone Star Brahmas was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Amarillo emerged with a 4-2 win. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Joe Grabowski at 4:43 of the third period. Lone Star's power play was ineffective against the Bulls' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Amarillo was paced by Grabowski, who registered one goal and one assist. The Bulls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Lone Star power plays. Amarillo failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 22 pucks on goal after averaging 29.3 shots per game this season. Amarillo also got points from Mike Davis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Tyler Gernhofer also scored for Amarillo. In addition, Amarillo received assists from Brett Szajner, Roman Ammirato, Brady Ferguson, and Matt Sieckhaus, who contributed one a piece. With 23 shots on target during the contest, the Brahmas exceeded the 15.3 shots they average per game this year. Lone Star was helped by Alexey Solovyev, who racked up one goal. Solovyev scored 4:14 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Amarillo. Lone Star also got a goal from RJ Salvato as well. More assists for Lone Star came via Gordie Helmuth and Kellen Wasell, who each chipped in one. Collin Delia made 21 saves for the Bulls on 23 shots. Amarillo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jacob Nehama recorded 18 saves for the Brahmas. Lone Star incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
