Michigan falls to Springfield in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Springfield Jr. Blues pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Michigan Warriors on a clutch goal by Patrick Curry.

Springfield came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Jr. Blues trailed 3-0 after a goal by Michigan's Scott Cuthrell at 3:38 in the second period. Springfield knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Joshua Lammon at 4:43 in the third period.

The Jr. Blues were led by Curry, who racked up one goal and one assist. Curry scored 3:18 into overtime to make the score 4-3 Springfield. Max Kalter picked up the assist.

Springfield took advantage of the Warriors' penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. The Jr. Blues' offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 20.4 shots per game they average.

Springfield also got a goal from Mike Severson as well. More assists for Springfield came via Ji Young Li, Davis Dekorte, Lancaster, and Alex Baskakov, who contributed one a piece.

Michigan forced Springfield goalie Stefanos Lekkas to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

TJ Stuntz also scored for Michigan. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan were Jon Farkas, Alec Pellegrino, AJ Marcinek, and Jake Hopfner, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Blues' Lekkas stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Springfield ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Dillion Kelley made 35 saves for the Warriors on 39 shots. Michigan totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
