Martin Hojbjerg lifted the Corpus Christi IceRays to a 5-3 victory with a hat trick against the Odessa Jackalopes. Hojbjerg notched his first tally 17:47 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:43 into the third and at 13:30 into the third.Corpus Christi outdid its season average for goals scored. The IceRays have scored at the pace of 2.4 goals per game during the current campaign. With 45 shots on target during the contest, Corpus Christi exceeded the 25.1 shots it averages per game this year. Corpus Christi also got a goal from Tony Roisum as well. In addition, Corpus Christi received assists from Maurin Bouvet, who had two, Griffin Leach, who had three, and Jesse Shelton, Kyle Froese, and Eric Purcell, who each chipped in one. The IceRays were unable to stop Odessa from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jackalopes eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Odessa was helped by Joey Palumbo, who tallied one goal. Palumbo scored 19:58 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Alex Alger picked up the assist. Robb Stautz also scored for Odessa. More assists for Odessa came via Trace Jablin, Rif Taff, Mathieu Briand, Connor Chambers, and Lukas Laub, who contributed one a piece. Ben Myers rejected 34 shots on goal for Corpus Christi. The IceRays totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Jackalopes' Yoshihiro Kuroiwa stopped 40 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Odessa totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. |
