A stellar performance between the pipes by Stefanos Lekkas helped the Springfield Jr. Blues defeat the Topeka RoadRunners, 4-1. Springfield pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes. The Jr. Blues were led by Joshua Lammon, who registered one goal. Lammon scored 2:21 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Springfield. Patrick Curry assisted on the tally. Matt Woodley also scored for Springfield. More assists for Springfield came via Trevor Stone, who had one. Topeka was led by Tyler Poulsen, who scored the team's only goal. Poulsen scored on the power play 2:05 into the third period to make the score 1-1. The RoadRunners had gotten the advantage when Springfield's Ji Young Li was sent off for high sticking. Ryan Polin picked up the assist. Lekkas recorded 27 saves for the Jr. Blues. Springfield registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Topeka's Drew Vogler stopped 17 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The RoadRunners incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
