Coulee Region rides Cates to victory over Austin, 3-1

Blake Cates stood on his head and made 35 saves to lead the Coulee Region Chill to a 3-1 victory over the Austin Bruins.

Coulee Region was paced by Eddie Matsushima, who racked up one goal and one assist. Matsushima scored 10:11 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Coulee Region. Jesse Tredinnick provided the assist.

The Chill put 35 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.3 they average per game.

Mac Jansen also scored for Coulee Region. More assists for Coulee Region came via Dunk Abbott, Brogran Rafferty, and Blake Kelley, who each chipped in one.

Austin stifled Coulee Region's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bruins were held below their usual level of production. Austin puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Bruins forced the Chill goalie Cates to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Austin was led by Guillaume Leclerc, who scored the team's only goal. Leclerc scored 1:13 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Austin. Jay Dickman picked up the assist.

Coulee Region incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Bruins' Nicholas Lehr stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Austin incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
