Austin rides Lehr to victory over Fairbanks, 2-1

Nicholas Lehr had a standout game with 31 saves, and the Austin Bruins beat the Fairbanks Ice Dogs 2-1.

Austin was led by Brian Bachnak, who grabbed one goal. Bachnak scored 2:02 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Austin.

The Bruins excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Austin failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 18 pucks on goal after averaging 30.7 shots per game this season. The Bruins did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Austin puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game.

Austin also got a goal from Jake Arroyo as well. In addition, Austin received assists from Drew Anderson and Jay Dickman, who each chipped in one.

Fairbanks' offense operated below it season average. The Ice Dogs average 3.1 goals per game. The Bruins were unable to stop Fairbanks from sending pucks towards the net, and the Ice Dogs eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Fairbanks was led by Jacob Hetz, who scored the team's only goal. Hetz scored 56 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Fairbanks. Colton Wolter assisted on the tally.

Austin incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kevin Aldridge rejected 16 shots on goal for the Ice Dogs. Fairbanks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
