Soo rips Johnstown, 3-0

The Soo Eagles had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 3-0 win over the Johnstown Tomahawks.

Soo was led by AJ Jarosz, who registered one goal. Jarosz scored 5:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Soo. Bradley Mueller picked up the assist.

The Eagles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Johnstown to score on any of its five power plays. Soo's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Tomahawks. The Eagles average 2.7 goals allowed per game.

Soo also got points from Mike Sabatini, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Soo also got a goal from Jacob McDowell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Soo were Ryan Urso, who had two and Michael Caruso and Bruno Birzitis, who contributed one a piece.

Johnstown failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 19 pucks on goal after averaging 24.4 shots per game this season. The Tomahawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Johnstown averages 2.5 goals per game.

The Tomahawks were led by Brandon Reinholz, who took five shots.

Colin Brennan recorded 19 saves for Soo. The Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Johnstown's Alex Okicki stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Tomahawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
