The Topeka RoadRunners and the Odessa Jackalopes were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Topeka made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. The RoadRunners gained the winning advantage on a goal by Tyler Poulsen 19:43 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Topeka was sparked by Poulsen, who had one goal. The RoadRunners put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Odessa to score on any of its five power plays. Topeka also got a goal from Jake Kamrass as well. Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Sly Sutter, who had two and Cody Champagne, Peter Halash, and Tyler Groat, who each chipped in one. The Jackalopes relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Robb Stautz, Jake Kreutzer and Joey Palumbo took 11 of the team's 20 shots. More assists for Odessa came via Mathieu Briand, who had two and Alex Alger and Connor Thie, who contributed one a piece. Drew Vogler rejected 18 shots on goal for Topeka. The RoadRunners incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Yoshihiro Kuroiwa recorded 25 saves for Odessa. The Jackalopes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
