Stone lifts Springfield over Soo, 7-4

Trevor Stone was all over the ice for the Springfield Jr. Blues, as he tallied two goals in Springfield's 7-4 win over the Soo Eagles.

Stone found the back of the net 10:54 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Springfield and again while 17:57 into the second to make the score 6-4 Springfield.

The Jr. Blues surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Springfield averages 2.9 goals per game. By firing 38 shots on goal, the Jr. Blues exceeded the 22.8 shots they average per game this year.

Springfield also got points from Logan Wendling, who also registered one goal and one assist, Nick Belger, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Davis Dekorte, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Oliver Takacsi-Nagy, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Springfield received assists from Mike Severson, who had three and Ji Young Li, Brendan Jacques, Cameron Brown, Kyle Shreve, William Scherer, and Alex Baskakov, who contributed one a piece.

Springfield was unable to stop Soo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Eagles eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Soo was led by Derek Lodermeier, who registered one goal and one assist. Lodermeier scored 13:47 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Soo. AJ Jarosz assisted on the tally. Michelle Marchetti also scored for Soo. More assists for Soo came via Ryan Urso, who had two and Brad Pung, Mike Sabatini, and Jackson Barliant, who each chipped in one.

Sandro Aeschlimann recorded 34 saves for the Jr. Blues. Springfield incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Eagles' starting goalie, Skoog Paige, made 23 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Colin Brennan, who stopped eight shots. Soo totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
