Port Huron survives Soo comeback, wins 2-1

The Soo Eagles tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Port Huron Fighting Falcons held on for a 2-1 victory.

Port Huron took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have Soo storm back on a Jacob McDowell goal 26 seconds into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Fighting Falcons were paced by Zach Badalamenti, who tallied one goal. Badalamenti scored 15:09 into the second period to make the score Port Huron. Bryce VanHorn assisted on the tally.

Port Huron's offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.0 shots per game it averages.

Taylor Fernandez also scored for Port Huron. More assists for Port Huron came via Alex Archibald, who had one and Reed Scahill, who had two.

The Eagles could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

In addition, Soo received assists from Mike Sabatini, who had one.

The Fighting Falcons' Alex Blankenburg stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Port Huron incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Skoog Paige recorded 31 saves for Soo. The Eagles registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
