Kenai River outlasts Coulee Region, 3-2

The Kenai River Brown Bears gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Coulee Region Chill.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Tyler Andrews at 19:58 of the third period.

Kenai River got the win on the strength of a great game by Sebastian Fuchs, who had two goals and one assist. Fuchs scored the first of his two goals at 15:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kenai River. Albin Karlsson picked up the assist. Fuchs' next tally made the score 2-1 Kenai River with 9:51 left in the second period. Alec Butcher provided the assist.

The Brown Bears were below their usual level of shot production, taking 19 shots compared to the 29.9 Kenai River averages.

In addition, Kenai River received assists from Judd Loewenstein, who had one.

Coulee Region was helped by Gordon Wells, who registered one goal. Wells scored on the power play 12:47 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Chill had taken the advantage when the Brown Bears' Frankie Spellman got sent off for holding. James McGing picked up the assist. Coulee Region also got a goal from Eddie Matsushima as well. More assists for Coulee Region came via John Regnart, who had one and Jesse Tredinnick, who had two.

Zach Quinn rejected 18 shots on goal for Kenai River. The Brown Bears incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Coulee Region's Blake Cates stopped 16 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Chill incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
