Huge game by Wolter boosts Fairbanks over Lone Star, 6-3

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs' Colton Wolter had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 6-3 win over the Lone Star Brahmas.

Wolter scored 4:09 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Fairbanks. Hans Gorowsky assisted on the tally. Wolter dished an assist on Gorowsky's goal that made the score 2-0 Fairbanks at 8:56 into the second period. He added another helper on Chandler Madry's goal that made the score 5-1 Fairbanks at 5:58 into the third period.

Lone Star was unable to stop Fairbanks from sending pucks towards the net, and the Ice Dogs eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Fairbanks also got points from Gorowsky, who also registered one goal and one assist and Kyle Lee, who also had one goal and one assist. Johnny Mueller also scored for Fairbanks. Other players who recorded assists for Fairbanks were Viktor Liljegren, who had two and Doug Rose, Victor Munter, Nick Hinz, and Yannick Vedel, who contributed one a piece.

The Brahmas forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and three majors for 57 minutes in penalty time. Lone Star surpassed its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. The Brahmas did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 12 shots on net to force nine saves.

Lone Star was helped by Matt Lison, who finished with one goal. Lison scored 16:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Fairbanks. Todd Koritzinsky provided the assist. Lone Star also got a goal from AJ Duggan as well. More assists for Lone Star came via Austin Thielges, who had one and Anthony Mousseau and Paul Fregeau, who contributed two a piece.

Brad Robertson rejected nine shots on goal for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. Mattias Soderqvist made 26 saves for the Brahmas on 32 shots. Lone Star registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Brahmas ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Watson was ejected from the game.
