Seraphim lifts Topeka over Odessa, 6-0

The Topeka RoadRunners relied on the scoring touch of Cash Seraphim, who netted two goals, to beat the Odessa Jackalopes, 6-0.

Seraphim scored at 4:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Topeka and again while 8:07 into the first to make the score 2-0 Topeka.

Blake Wojtala frustrated Odessa's offense all game, and stopped 28 shots en route to a shutout.

Topeka stifled the Jackalopes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The RoadRunners' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. Topeka's offense was clicking better than usual and put 43 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.3 shots per game it averages.

Topeka also got points from Cody Champagne, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Topeka included Louis Dell Ermo, who had one and Andrew Roye, who had two. More assists for Topeka came via Kevin Fitzgerald, Michal Uhrik, Tyler Poulsen, Tomas Nechala, and Jerad Tafoya, who each chipped in one and Mike Gornall and Jake Kamrass, who contributed two a piece.

With 28 shots on target during the contest, Odessa exceeded the 24.7 shots it averages per game this year.

The Jackalopes were led by Robb Stautz, who took five shots.

The RoadRunners totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Odessa's Yoshihiro Kuroiwa stopped 37 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The Jackalopes totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play.
