Vogler stymies Corpus Christi, Topeka wins 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Drew Vogler helped the Topeka RoadRunners defeat the Corpus Christi IceRays, 2-1.

Topeka was sparked by Jerad Tafoya, who finished with one goal. Tafoya scored 16:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Topeka. James Ring provided the assist.

The RoadRunners excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Corpus Christi's defense shut down Topeka's forwards for much of the game, and the RoadRunners got off only 14 shots during the contest.

Topeka also got a goal from Tyler Poulsen as well. In addition, Topeka received assists from Philip Middleton, who had one.

The IceRays kept Topeka's goalie busy throughout the game, and Vogler made 32 saves on 33 shots.

Corpus Christi was led by Danny Middleton, who scored the team's only goal. Middleton scored 14:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Corpus Christi.

The RoadRunners incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Forbes Ploszaj made 12 saves for the IceRays on 14 shots. Corpus Christi incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
