Lansing Capitals 18U beats Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 18U 4-3 after comeback scare

Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 18U tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but Lansing Capitals 18U held on for a 4-3 victory.

Lansing Capitals 18U took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 18U storm back on a Blake Naida goal 16:46 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

In the losing effort, Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 18U was paced by Alex Mitionis, who finished with two goals. Mitionis scored the first of his two goals at 14:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 18U. Eddie Pelka picked up the assist. Mitionis' next tally made the score 2-2 with 15:21 left in the second period. Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 18U had gotten the advantage when Lansing Capitals 18U's Ronald Hein was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Michael Zenone assisted on the tally.

Lansing Capitals 18U was helped by Tait Aptakin, who racked up one goal. Aptakin scored 6:03 into the third period to make the score Lansing Capitals 18U. Keegan Weckesser picked up the assist. Lansing Capitals 18U also got a goal from Trenton Kulczyk as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lansing Capitals 18U were Zachary Roberts, who had one.

More assists for Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 18U came via Michael Tish, Anthony Yamnitsky, and Shane Cross, who contributed one a piece.
