Lansing Capitals 18U uses shootout to best Esmark Stars 18U, 3-2

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Lansing Capitals 18U defeated Esmark Stars 18U in a shootout 3-2.

The two teams needed 12 turns to complete the shootout.

Lansing Capitals 18U came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Lansing Capitals 18U trailed 2-1 after a goal by Esmark Stars 18U's David Polinski at 16:10 in the second period. Lansing Capitals 18U knotted things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Trenton Kulczyk at 4:32 in the third period.

Lansing Capitals 18U was helped by Ronald Hein, who grabbed one goal. Hein scored 8:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lansing Capitals 18U. Erik Brown picked up the assist. In addition, Lansing Capitals 18U received assists from Zachary Roberts and Alexander Rowe, who contributed one a piece.

Brendon Zack also scored for Esmark Stars 18U. Other players who recorded assists for Esmark Stars 18U were Tristan Ramage, who had two and Jonathan Dagnal and Tanner Gilliland, who each chipped in one.

Jacob Gwillim recorded 22 saves for Lansing Capitals 18U. Lansing Capitals 18U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Esmark Stars 18U's Brian Baker stopped 15 shots out of the 17 that he faced. Esmark Stars 18U incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
