San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U wins tough contest against Pursuit of Excellence 16U, 4-2

San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U and Pursuit of Excellence 16U were evenly matched throughout their contest, but San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Trevor Weinstock's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U was led by Matthew Ebertin, who finished with one goal and one assist. Ebertin scored 2:01 into the third period to make the score 3-1 San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U. Ryan Meure picked up the assist.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U stifled Pursuit of Excellence 16U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Sam Reveles also scored for San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U. More assists for San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U came via Jacob Acton, Jake Stom, John Garrity, and Zach Fobar, who each chipped in one.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U's penalty kill managed to stymie San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U's power play, giving up only one goal while playing with a man down. Pursuit of Excellence 16U could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 44 minutes in penalties during the game.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U was helped by William Daigneault, who racked up one goal. Daigneault scored 11:31 into the third period to make the score 3-2 San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U. Pursuit of Excellence 16U also got a goal from Brett Piper as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pursuit of Excellence 16U were Brendan Lane, who had one.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U's Acton stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that he faced. San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Griffen Outhouse rejected 19 shots on goal for Pursuit of Excellence 16U. Pursuit of Excellence 16U registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
