Esmark Stars 16U uses shootout to best Pikes Peak Miners 16U, 3-2

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Esmark Stars 16U defeated Pikes Peak Miners 16U in a shootout 3-2.

The shootout featured 14 attempts between both teams. Pikes Peak Miners 16U got shootout goals from Luke Boose and Travis Work. Esmark Stars 16U also got shootout goals from Alec Bosnic and Carter Ekberg.

Esmark Stars 16U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Esmark Stars 16U forced Pikes Peak Miners 16U goalie Ty Bever to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Esmark Stars 16U was helped by Nikita Slivchenko, who registered one goal and one assist. Slivchenko scored 4:42 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Ethan Homitz provided the assist. Esmark Stars 16U additionally got points from Homitz, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Esmark Stars 16U received assists from Kenneth Dee and Sam Barnes, who each chipped in one.
