Metro pulls away in second, rolls over Toledo, 5-0

The Toledo Cherokee allowed the Metro Jets to net three goals during the second period and fell, 5-0.

Cooper McLean had two goals and one assist to lead Metro. McLean scored the first of his two goals at 13:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Metro. Kyle Shreve assisted on the tally. McLean's next tally made the score 4-0 Metro with 9:15 left in the second period. The Jets earned a power play opportunity when Aaron Roschinsky was put in the box for high sticking. Cody Jones provided the assist.

Metro's penalty kill excelled, as the Jets gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Metro stifled Toledo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jets forced the Cherokee goalie Aaron Callan to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Metro found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Jets average 2.9 goals per game.

Metro additionally got points from Brad Hepler, who also had one goal and one assist, Shreve, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Jones, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Carter Reid, Alex Holm, and Zach MacKay, who each chipped in one.

Toledo could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Cherokee average 2.4 goals per game.

Metro's Kameron Limburg stopped 16 shots out of the 16 that he faced. The Jets incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Callan rejected 26 shots on goal for Toledo. The Cherokee incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
