Martin's big game bests Battle Creek in 5-2 Wisconsin win

Behind a great game by Ryan Martin, who had two goals and one assist, the Wisconsin Whalers defeated the Battle Creek Revolution, 5-2.

Martin found the back of the net on the power play 7:16 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wisconsin and again while 13:12 into the first to make the score 3-0 Wisconsin.

Wisconsin pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes.

Battle Creek was unable to stop the Whalers from sending pucks towards the net, and Wisconsin eventually piled up 55 shots on goal.

Wisconsin additionally got points from Zack Johnson, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Wisconsin also had goals scored by Jon Skarlis and Easton Halbert, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wisconsin were Connor Morgan, who had two and Mitch Riese, Jason Hoehn, and Connor Hyde, who contributed one a piece.

The Revolution were helped by Forrest Walbeck, who registered one goal. Walbeck scored on the power play 5:47 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Wisconsin. Battle Creek earned a power play opportunity when Dan Addie was put in the box for high sticking. Derek Dodge assisted on the tally. Battle Creek also got a goal from Trevor Carey as well. In addition, Battle Creek received assists from Conner Westbrook and Andy Metzler, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Lewis made 19 saves for the Whalers on 21 shots. Wisconsin registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Tyler Babinski recorded 50 saves for the Revolution. Battle Creek incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
