The xDallas Jr. Stars could not stop the yTopeka Capitals' Tommy Malkmus, who tallied a hat trick in a 4-1 win. Malkmus' first goal came 2:05 into the second period. He then added goals at 9:21 into the second and at 14:20 into the second.yTopeka pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 56 penalty minutes. The Capitals put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow xDallas to score on any of its 13 power plays. yTopeka's offense rang up 47 shots on the Jr. Stars' net. yTopeka also got a goal from Jaydn Munnelly as well. In addition, yTopeka received assists from Nick Rizzo, who had two, Hardijs Kupaks, who had three, and Casey LaBonte and Kole Hudson, who contributed one a piece. The xDallas penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 17 minors and two majors for 64 minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Stars had been averaging 26.0 minutes in penalties per game. xDallas did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jr. Stars put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. The defense for xDallas tightened up when it had players in the penalty box, as it let in one goal on 11 the Capitals power plays. Jude Hull made 21 saves for yTopeka on 22 shots. Link Ferch recorded 43 saves for the Jr. Stars. |
