Bartkowiak leads Chicago over Battle Creek, 11-2

Behind a great game by Vince Bartkowiak, who had one goal and five assists, the Chicago Junior Bulldogs defeated the Battle Creek Revolution, 11-2.

Bartkowiak beat Zach Kooi with a shot 18:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Chicago. Jeremy Szczurek assisted on the tally. Bartkowiak dished an assist on Justin Stein's goal that made the score 5-1 Chicago at 55 seconds into the third period. He then added assists on Ryan Maksimovic's goal at 1:17 into the third, on Maksimovic's goal at 8:18 into the third, on Matt Blaszkiewicz's goal at 8:40 into the third, and on Maksimovic's goal at 12:19 into the third.

Chicago forced Battle Creek goalie Kooi to work between the pipes, taking 73 shots. The Junior Bulldogs outdid their season average for goals scored. Chicago has scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Chicago also got points from Joey Mavrin, who also had one goal and one assist, Blaszkiewicz, who also registered one goal and one assist, Toms Taurins, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Stein, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Chicago included Trevor Foley, Joe Lampman, and Jarret Walt, who each put in one. More assists for Chicago came via Matt Kostopoulos, who had two, Henry Hearon and Zac Edwards, who contributed one a piece, and Dan Marotz and Christopher Wachal, who each chipped in three.

The Revolution were helped by Brandon Benaglio, who had one goal. Benaglio scored 5:00 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Chicago. Alex Olsen picked up the assist. Michael Schmitt also scored for Battle Creek. In addition, Battle Creek received assists from Austin Hill, Trevor Carey, and Derek Dodge, who contributed one a piece.

The Junior Bulldogs' Michael Krch stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Chicago incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Zach Kooi made 62 saves for Battle Creek on 73 shots. The Revolution incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
