Jason Kumpfmiller stood on his head and made 36 saves to lead the Pittsburgh Vengeance to a 2-1 victory over the yFlint Junior Generals. Pittsburgh was led by Tyler Speis, who grabbed one goal. Speis scored on the power play 7:13 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pittsburgh. Gavin Cummings assisted on the tally. The Vengeance excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Oskar Thorsen also scored for Pittsburgh. More assists for Pittsburgh came via Tom Diffendal and Michael Straub, who each chipped in one. yFlint was held below its usual level of production. The Junior Generals average 4.6 goals per game. Pittsburgh was unable to stop yFlint from sending pucks towards the net, and the Junior Generals eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. yFlint was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes. The Junior Generals were led by Brett Leppek, who scored the team's only goal. Leppek scored 13:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. Brit Brothen provided the assist. The Vengeance incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. yFlint's Anders Franke stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced.
