:Cincinnati beats Topeka 2-1 after comeback scare

:Cincinnati survived a determined comeback attempt by the Topeka Capitals on the way to a 2-1 win.

:Cincinnati took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have Topeka storm back on a Georgy Ostapchuk goal 2:56 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Capitals were stymied by :Cincinnati netminder Joe Sheppard, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. Even though Sheppard played well, his goals against average suffered, as his one goal against exceeded his season average of 1.0.

:Cincinnati forced Topeka goalie Jude Hull to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

:Cincinnati was helped by Ryan Sete, who tallied one goal. Sete scored short handed 12:14 into the second period to make the score :Cincinnati. A checking from behind call on Devin Fracassi put :Cincinnati on the penalty kill. Emil Sundstrom provided the assist. :Cincinnati also got a goal from Ian Rolfsen as well. More assists for :Cincinnati came via Jessie Fracassi and Niko Jansen, who each chipped in one.

The Capitals stifled :Cincinnati's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Topeka was held below its usual level of production. The Capitals average 4.1 goals per game. Topeka's offense rang up 32 shots on :Cincinnati's net.

In addition, Topeka received assists from Nick Manney and Yu Kikosaka, who contributed one a piece.

:Cincinnati incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Capitals' Hull stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Topeka incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
