Metro holds on for 2-1 win against Michigan

Lakeland Rink1    Sat, Feb 01, 2014

The Michigan Mountain Cats tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Metro Jets held on for a 2-1 victory.

Metro made the score 2-0 on a goal by Cody Jones at 12:34 in the second period, and Michigan got as close as 2-1 when Abram Prince scored 13:25 into the third period.

The Jets pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 45 penalty minutes.

Metro stifled the Mountain Cats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Alex Holm also scored for Metro. In addition, Metro received assists from James Roznowski, Brad Hepler, Kyle Shreve, and Travis Baranowski, who contributed one a piece.

Other players who recorded assists for Michigan were Kade Morrison, who had one.

Kameron Limburg rejected 20 shots on goal for the Jets. Metro registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Jets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Baranowski was ejected from the game. Michigan's Kevin OShea stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Mountain Cats totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-6 on the power play.
