Toledo survives Michigan comeback, wins 2-1

The Toledo Cherokee survived a determined comeback attempt by the Michigan Mountain Cats on the way to a 2-1 win.

Toledo took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have Michigan storm back on a John Arms goal 14:05 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Mountain Cats were stymied by the Cherokee netminder Clay Horvath, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. The solid play of Horvath will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.54.

Toledo could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Cherokee were helped by Aaron Roschinsky, who racked up one goal. Roschinsky scored 11:31 into the second period to make the score Toledo. David Bogart assisted on the tally. Xavier Sudlow also scored for Toledo. Other players who recorded assists for Toledo were Noah Szenderski, Dominic Pisanti, and Kyler Omey, who contributed one a piece.

Michigan's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Toledo power plays. Toledo was unable to stop the Mountain Cats from sending pucks towards the net, and Michigan eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Mountain Cats could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

In addition, Michigan received assists from Kade Morrison and Austin Buchholz, who each chipped in one.

Kevin OShea rejected 28 shots on goal for Michigan. The Mountain Cats registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
