The Pittsburgh Vengeance's penalty kill was superb, as Pittsburgh survived multiple penalties to beat the Michigan Mountain Cats, 3-0.

The Vengeance were paced by Thomas Leistner, who racked up one goal. Leistner scored on the power play 7:20 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Pittsburgh. A hooking penalty on Jacob Gleason had put Pittsburgh on the power play. Nicholas Santiago provided the assist.

The Vengeance stifled Michigan's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Pittsburgh was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Vengeance average 2.8 goals allowed per game. Pittsburgh forced the Mountain Cats goalie Kevin OShea to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots. The Vengeance got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Pittsburgh could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Others who scored for Pittsburgh included Joseph Randazzo and Oskar Thorsen, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from Cody Black, Eli Lynn, and Tom Diffendal, who each chipped in one.

The Vengeance's defense shut down Michigan's forwards for much of the game, and the Mountain Cats got off only 14 shots during the contest. Michigan found itself short handed often, totaling 42 penalty minutes and allowing 14 power plays.

Pittsburgh's Chase Stanford stopped 14 shots out of the 14 that he faced. Kevin OShea made 50 saves for the Mountain Cats on 53 shots. Michigan registered zero goals on six power play opportunities.
