Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Toledo Cherokee defeated the Chicago Junior Bulldogs in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed 12 turns to complete the shootout. Chicago got a shootout goal from Joey Mavrin. In addition to the clincher, Toledo got a shootout goal from Zachary Armstrong.

The Cherokee came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Toledo was down 3-2 after a goal by the Junior Bulldogs' Daniel Marotz at 5:16 in the third period. The Cherokee knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Dominic Pisanti at 7:19 in the third period.

Toledo's penalty kill excelled, as the Cherokee gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

Toledo stifled Chicago's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cherokee kept the Junior Bulldogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Krch made 45 saves on 49 shots. Toledo could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Cherokee were led by Dominic Antonelli, who registered one goal and one assist. Antonelli scored 15:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Noah Szenderski picked up the assist. Toledo also got points from Szenderski, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Toledo came via Armstrong, Donnie Nagle, Xavier Sudlow, and Kyler Omey, who each chipped in one.

Toledo was unable to stop Chicago from sending pucks towards the net, and the Junior Bulldogs eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Chicago could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Junior Bulldogs were helped by Christopher Wachal, who racked up one goal. Wachal scored 13:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Chicago. Matt Blaszkiewicz provided the assist. Chicago also got a goal from Matt Kostopoulos as well. In addition, Chicago received assists from Luke Morin, who had two and Vince Bartkowiak, Ryan Maksimovic, and Tyler Dalton, who contributed one a piece.

The Cherokee's Clay Horvath stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Toledo registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
