Pittsburgh wins tough contest against Michigan, 3-2Alpha Ice Complex Sat, Jan 11, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Pittsburgh Vengeance escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Michigan Mountain Cats. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Cody Black's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Black was all over the ice for Pittsburgh, as he finished with two goals in the win. Michigan was unable to stop the Vengeance from sending pucks towards the net, and Pittsburgh eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Nicholas Santiago also scored for Pittsburgh. More assists for Pittsburgh came via Tom Diffendal, who had two and Eli Lynn, Joseph Randazzo, and Gavin Cummings, who each chipped in one. The Mountain Cats were helped by Abram Prince, who grabbed one goal. Prince scored 2:32 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Daniel Bachynsky provided the assist. Michigan also got a goal from Kade Morrison as well. In addition, Michigan received assists from John Arms, Kenny Forton, and Zach Collins, who contributed one a piece. The Vengeance's Tyler Geloneck stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Pittsburgh incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kevin OShea made 39 saves for Michigan on 42 shots. The Mountain Cats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
