Cincinnati falls to Wisconsin in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Wisconsin Whalers pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Cincinnati Swords on a clutch goal by Zack Johnson.

Wisconsin came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Whalers was down 2-0 after a goal by Cincinnati's RJ Marshall at 9:52 in the first period. Wisconsin knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Tim Tarvis at 12:10 in the third period.

The Whalers were led by Johnson, who had one goal and one assist. Johnson scored 3:30 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Wisconsin.

Wisconsin stifled the Swords' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cincinnati was unable to stop the Whalers from sending pucks towards the net, and Wisconsin eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Wisconsin also got points from Ryan Martin, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Tarvis, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Wisconsin were Dan Addie, who had one.

The Swords managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Cincinnati finished below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game.

Cincinnati also got a goal from Nikita Korotkov as well. In addition, Cincinnati received assists from Sean Kilpatrick, Henry Smith, Robert Gentile, and Luke McCammant, who contributed one a piece.

Michal Marcinek rejected 27 shots on goal for the Whalers. Wisconsin incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and had no power play opportunities. Alec Rounds recorded 30 saves for the Swords. Cincinnati registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
