Metro beats Michigan 4-2 after comeback scare

The Michigan Mountain Cats tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Metro Jets would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

A goal by Matt Dempsey put Metro up 4-0 in the second period, but Michigan pulled to within two on Nathan Phillips's tally 19:46 into the third period.

The Jets kept the Mountain Cats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Kevin OShea made 42 saves on 46 shots.

Metro was helped by Cody Jones, who registered one goal. Jones scored on the power play 9:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Metro. An elbowing penalty on John Arms had put the Jets on the power play. Zach Mac Kay picked up the assist. Metro also had goals scored by Kenny Forton and Linville Lucas, who each put in one. More assists for Metro came via Brad Hepler, who had two and Carter Reid, Cooper McLean, Alex Holm, and Travis Baranowski, who each chipped in one.

Michigan's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Shawn Mott also scored for Michigan. In addition, Michigan received assists from Zach Collins and Austin Buchholz, who contributed one a piece.

Metro's Trevor Kalinowski stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Jets incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Mountain Cats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
