yFlint vanquishes Toledo in shootout, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the yFlint Junior Generals defeated the Toledo Cherokee in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Toledo got a shootout goal from Zach Born. In addition to the clincher, yFlint got a shootout goal from Jacob Lainesse.

The Cherokee's power play was ineffective against the Junior Generals' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

yFlint excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. The Junior Generals' offense rang up 37 shots on Toledo's net.

yFlint was helped by Conor Durgan, who had one goal. Durgan scored on the power play 5:07 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Junior Generals had taken the advantage when the Cherokee's David Bogart got sent off for interference. Justin Fisher picked up the assist. Connor McGovern also scored for yFlint. More assists for yFlint came via Jacob Drinkard, Nick Gnagni, and Brett Leppek, who contributed one a piece.

Toledo was helped by Xavier Sudlow, who registered one goal. Sudlow scored 2:53 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Toledo. Michael Pisanti assisted on the tally. Toledo also got a goal from Dominic Antonelli as well. In addition, Toledo received assists from Brody Duncan, Blake Podgorski, and Hudson Sabin, who each chipped in one.

Anders Franke made 28 saves for yFlint on 30 shots. The Junior Generals totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Aaron Callan recorded 34 saves for the Cherokee. Toledo ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
