Miska's big game bests Toledo in 6-3 Twin City win

Calvin Miska had two goals and one assist to lead the Twin City Steel to a 6-3 victory over the Toledo Cherokee.

Miska's tallies came on the power play at 19:54 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and on the power play 6:43 into the second to make the score 3-1 Twin City.

Twin City pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 48 penalty minutes.

The defense for the Steel tightened up when they had players in the penalty box, as it let in one goal on 11 Toledo power plays. Twin City outdid its season average for goals scored. The Steel average 3.3 goals per game.

Twin City also got points from Alexander Konnov, who also had one goal and two assists and Jace Childs, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Twin City included Jake Mcafee and Ben Ihrie, who scored one goal each. More assists for Twin City came via Tony Arias and Zach Randell, who each chipped in one.

The the Cherokee penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 15 minors and one major for 55 minutes in penalty time. Toledo surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Cherokee were led by Brody Duncan, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Duncan scored 13:19 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Twin City. Zachary Armstrong assisted on the tally. Toledo also had goals scored by David Bogart and Noah Szenderski, who each put in one. In addition, Toledo received assists from Nick Foti and Brett Podgorski, who contributed one a piece.

Jordan Moran made 21 saves for Twin City on 24 shots. The Steel registered four goals on 10 power play opportunities. For Twin City, Jerod Sabaska was ejected from the game. Aaron Callan recorded 24 saves for Toledo.
