Moran leads Twin City to shutout victory over CincinnatiRomeoville Rink 3 Fri, Nov 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Jordan Moran recorded a shutout against the Cincinnati Swords as the Twin City Steel picked up a 4-0 win. Twin City pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes. The Steel put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cincinnati to score on any of its six power plays. Twin City forced the Swords goalie Joe Sheppard to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. The Steel were helped by Alexander Konnov, who finished with one goal. Konnov scored 3:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Twin City. Others who scored for Twin City included Ben Ihrie, Chase Myers-Beck, and Jace Childs, who scored one goal each. In addition, Twin City received assists from Tyler Lodin, Jake Mcafee, Mathias Ahman, Tanner Duffney, Tony Arias, and Isaac Hale, who each chipped in one. Cincinnati was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Swords had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game. Cincinnati excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Swords did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Cincinnati puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Moran rejected 28 shots on goal for Twin City. Sheppard recorded 30 saves for the Swords. Cincinnati ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Sete was ejected from the game.
