St. Louis holds on for 4-3 win against Alexandria

The St. Louis Jr. Blues survived a determined comeback attempt by the Alexandria Blizzard on the way to a 4-3 win.

St. Louis made the score 4-2 on a goal by Mike Lozano at 7:43 in the third period, and Alexandria got as close as 4-3 when Garrett Skinner scored 8:10 into the third period.

Lozano had two goals to lead the Jr. Blues to victory.

St. Louis had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances.

St. Louis additionally got points from Andrew Kovacich, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. St. Louis also got a goal from Alexander Carlsson as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Adam Roeder, Tommy Heinzman, and Alex Klaesner, who contributed one a piece.

The Blizzard's offense rang up 33 shots on the Jr. Blues' net. Alexandria was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 30 penalty minutes.

The Blizzard were led by Aaron Ryback, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Ryback scored on the power play 8:39 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Louis. Alexandria had gotten the advantage when St. Louis' Christian Argyros was sent off for delay of game. Jake Maxson assisted on the tally. Alexandria also got points from Skinner, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Danny Pelzer also scored for Alexandria. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Nate Mettenburg, who had one.

Billy Hindle made 30 saves for the Jr. Blues on 33 shots. St. Louis incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Evan Bisek rejected 17 shots on goal for the Blizzard. Alexandria registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
