Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Flint Junior Generals defeated the Chicago Junior Bulldogs in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured 14 attempts between both teams. Chicago got a shootout goal from Matt Kostopoulos. Flint's other shootout goal was scored by Austin Fletcher.The Junior Generals' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Chicago power plays. Flint's offense rang up 48 shots on the Junior Bulldogs' net. The Junior Generals were helped by Justin Fisher, who racked up one goal. Fisher scored 4:57 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Flint. Ryan Burr provided the assist. Flint also got points from Mark McGee, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Zach Koonce also scored for Flint. In addition, Flint received assists from Conor Durgan, Trevor Benaglio, and Luke Dmytro, who contributed one a piece. Chicago put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Flint to score on any of its seven power plays. The Junior Bulldogs were helped by Ryan Maksimovic, who finished with one goal. Maksimovic scored short handed 7:22 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Chicago. Chicago found itself down a man on Daniel Marotz's hooking. Others who scored for Chicago included Max Piper and Kostopoulos, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Chicago were Matt Blaszkiewicz, Isaac Lamb, Luke Morin, and Tyler Dalton, who each chipped in one. Nathan Klebe made 26 saves for the Junior Generals on 29 shots. Flint incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Michael Krch rejected 44 shots on goal for the Junior Bulldogs. Chicago incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
