Peoria hangs on, beats St. Louis 3-1Affton Ice Rink Sun, Nov 17, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Peoria Mustangs took the lead against the St. Louis Jr. Blues in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory. Connor Millard provided Peoria with the game-winning tally when he scored 9:48 into the the first period. Blake Ortman assisted on the tally.Millard had two goals to lead the Mustangs to victory. Peoria was led by goalie Marc Hayton, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Hayton certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.72 entering the contest. The Mustangs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five St. Louis power plays. St. Louis was unable to stop Peoria from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mustangs eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. Peoria also got a goal from Andrew Scofield as well. More assists for Peoria came via Austin Ziakas, Nathan Chasteen, Brennan Anderson, and Austin Wisely, who contributed one a piece. The Jr. Blues could not produce up to they normal offensive output. St. Louis averages 3.9 goals per game. The Jr. Blues were led by Andrew McGlynn, who scored the team's only goal. McGlynn scored 3:27 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jacob Debus provided the assist. Peoria incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Billy Hindle made 46 saves for St. Louis on 49 shots. The Jr. Blues incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
