Mark McGee netted a hat trick to lead the Flint Junior Generals over the Michigan Mountain Cats, 7-3. McGee notched his first tally 2:28 into the second period. He then added goals at 5:10 into the second and at 14:16 into the third.Michigan fell victim to a deadly Flint power play, which ripped the Mountain Cats for four goals. The Junior Generals forced Michigan goalie Kevin OShea to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Flint was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes. Flint also got points from Brett Leppek, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Mark Vansaw Jr also scored for Flint. In addition, Flint received assists from Oliver Lindstrom, Conner McGovern, Zach Koonce, Reno de Hondt, and Brit Brothen, who each chipped in one and Conor Durgan and Trevor Benaglio, who contributed two a piece. The Mountain Cats were led by Austin Buchholz, who tallied one goal and one assist. Buchholz scored 7:37 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Flint. Michigan additionally got points from Kade Morrison, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Michigan also got a goal from Zach Collins as well. More assists for Michigan came via Guy Soulliere, who had one. Anders Franke made 18 saves for the Junior Generals on 20 shots. OShea rejected 35 shots on goal for Michigan. The Mountain Cats incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
