Huge game by Voss boosts Granite City over Minnesota, 7-1Armadillo Deck Arena East Mon, Nov 11, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Granite City Lumberjacks' Zach Voss had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 7-1 win over the Minnesota Flying Aces. Voss got on the board by slotting home a goal 15:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Granite City. Luc Richardson picked up the assist. Voss dished an assist on Richardson's goal that made the score 4-0 Granite City at 1:51 into the second period. Granite City stifled Minnesota's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Lumberjacks forced the Flying Aces goalie Mike Stumpf to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Granite City additionally got points from Richardson, who also grabbed three goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Billy Warren, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Gavin Porter also scored for Granite City. Other players who recorded assists for Granite City were Morgan Martelle, who had three and Aidan Verbeke, Tim Brown, Tobias Gabrielsen, and Drew Otto, who each chipped in one. Minnesota's offense was handcuffed by Granite City's defensive play, and the Flying Aces managed only 14 shots on goal during the game. Scott Murray recorded 13 saves for the Lumberjacks. Granite City incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Minnesota's Stumpf stopped 31 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Flying Aces incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
