:Cincinnati survives Topeka comeback, wins 5-3

:Cincinnati survived a determined comeback attempt by the Topeka Capitals on the way to a 5-3 win.

:Cincinnati made the score 5-1 on a goal by Ryan Sete at 3:54 in the second period, and Topeka got as close as 5-3 when Hardijis Kupaks scored 56 seconds into the third period.

:Cincinnati's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Topeka power plays.

:Cincinnati additionally got points from Andrew Bond, who also tallied one goal and one assist. RJ Marshall also scored for :Cincinnati. More assists for :Cincinnati came via Brett Mory, Chandler Dorbin, Henry Smith, Thomas Clayton, Brenden Williams, and Emil Sundstrom, who contributed one a piece.

:Cincinnati was unable to stop the Capitals from sending pucks towards the net, and Topeka eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Capitals gave up more goals than its normal season average. Topeka gives up 2.5 goals per game. The Capitals were often in penalty trouble, as it ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time.

Topeka was helped by Kole Hudson, who had one goal. Hudson scored 17:19 into the first period to make the score 2-1 :Cincinnati. Kupaks picked up the assist. Topeka also got points from Nick Manney, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Kupaks, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Topeka received assists from Yu Kikosaka, who had one and Griffin Leach, who had two.

Artie Haase made 29 saves for :Cincinnati on 32 shots. :Cincinnati totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. The Capitals' starting goalie, Mike McElroy, made 10 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Jude Hull, who stopped 11 shots.
