Flint blows out Michigan, 6-1Iceland Arena Sun, Nov 03, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Flint Junior Generals had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Michigan Mountain Cats. Flint pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 46 penalty minutes. The Junior Generals were led by Brett Leppek, who registered one goal. Leppek scored 10:51 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Flint. Nicholas Gnagni provided the assist. Flint forced Michigan goalie Walker Bass to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Flint also got points from Conner McGovern, who also had one goal and one assist, Gnagni, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Jacob Lainesse, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Flint also got a goal from Andrew Bellant as well. More assists for Flint came via Conor Durgan, who had two and Jordy Makranyi, Caleb Gannelli, Brit Brothen, and Justin Fisher, who contributed one a piece. The Junior Generals' Anders Franke stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Flint registered two goals on four power play opportunities. For the Junior Generals, Durgan and Trevor Benaglio were ejected from the contest. Walker Bass made 31 saves for the Mountain Cats on 37 shots. Michigan incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
