Metro outlasts Michigan, 4-2Lakeland Rink1 Sat, Nov 02, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Metro Jets escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Michigan Mountain Cats. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Zach Kopinski secured the win for Metro with a goal in the second period. The Jets got the win behind a great game by Josh Beleski, who had two goals and one assist. Beleski scored the first of his two goals at 4:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Metro. John Garst picked up the assist. Beleski's next tally made the score 4-2 Metro with 10:26 left in the third period. Alex Holm provided the assist. Metro also got a goal from Kevin Shand as well. More assists for Metro came via Cody Jones, TJ Krajewski, Kyle Downey, and Matt Dempsey, who contributed one a piece. Michigan put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Metro to score on any of its three power plays. The Mountain Cats were helped by Shawn Cornock, who registered one goal. Cornock scored 2:13 into the first period to make the score 1-1. John Arms also scored for Michigan. In addition, Michigan received assists from Guy Soulliere, who had one. Trevor Kalinowski recorded 24 saves for the Jets. Metro ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Kevin OShea rejected 24 shots on goal for Michigan. The Mountain Cats totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
