Joe Anderson had two goals and three assists to lead the Alexandria Blizzard to a 12-2 victory over the Twin City Steel. Anderson's tallies came on the power play at 14:18 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alexandria and 17:03 into the first to make the score 3-0 Alexandria.Alexandria racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and three majors for 45 minutes in penalty time. The Blizzard had been averaging 37.0 minutes in penalties per game. Alexandria made Twin City's goaltenders to work in net, finishing with 48 shots and forcing 36 saves. Jordan Moran made 35 stops and Thomas Terrance made one. The Blizzard put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Steel to score on any of their five power plays. Alexandria surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Blizzard have scored at the pace of 5.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Alexandria also got points from Ian Ecklund, who also grabbed one goal and four assists, Tom Schmidt, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Bo Gronseth, who also had two goals and one assist, Mick Dhein, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Aaron Ryback, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Drake Hunter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Alexandria also got a goal from Bryce Mitzel as well. More assists for Alexandria came via Nate Mettenburg, who had two and Zach Kihle, Levi Erickson, Aammir Freese, and Evan Bisek, who contributed one a piece. Twin City was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game the Steel had been spending in the box. Evan Bisek made 26 saves for Alexandria on 28 shots. The Blizzard registered three goals on nine power play opportunities. Alexandria ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Anderson was ejected from the game.
