Dallas rolls over Sugar Land, 10-3

The Dallas Jr. Stars had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 10-3 win over the Sugar Land Imperials.

The Dallas penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled five minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 27.0 minutes per game the Jr. Stars had been spending in the box. Dallas forced Imperials' goaltenders to work in net, taking 42 shots and forcing 32 saves. Matt Douglas made 11 stops and Seth Edeen made 21. The Jr. Stars put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Sugar Land to score on any of its four power plays. Dallas' goal total was higher than its season average. The Jr. Stars have scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign. Dallas got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed seven goals during the game.

The Jr. Stars were helped by Raurie Petrich, who grabbed one goal and three assists. Petrich scored 4:50 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Maxim Ledyankin picked up the assist. Dallas additionally got points from Corey Burns, who also registered two goals and three assists, Brandon Salisbury, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Tommy Stock, who also had one goal and three assists, and Ben Owen, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Keith Huspen also scored for Dallas. In addition, Dallas received assists from Alex Cyrenne and Jake Gevaart, who contributed one a piece.

The Imperials racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and two majors for 46 minutes in penalty time. Sugar Land had been averaging 30.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Imperials kept Dallas' goalie busy throughout the game, and Link Ferch made 29 saves on 32 shots.

Sugar Land was led by Avik Bordak, who tallied one goal and two assists. Bordak scored 4:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Sugar Land. Luke Simon assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Sugar Land included Austin Givens and Yves Bader, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Sugar Land were Alex Tilman and Tucker Spooner, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Stars registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
