Wisconsin blows out Cincinnati, 4-1

The Wisconsin Whalers were firing on all cylinders against the Cincinnati Swords, and when the final buzzer sounded Whalers emerged with a 4-1 win.

Wisconsin was led by Ryan Martin, who had one goal. Martin scored 12:42 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Wisconsin. Zack Johnson assisted on the tally.

The Whalers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Cincinnati power plays.

Wisconsin additionally got points from Tim Tarvis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Wisconsin also got a goal from D.J. Mussey as well. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from Brett Gates, who had two and Clayton Janecke, Dan Addie, and Easton Halbert, who contributed one a piece.

Cincinnati's offense operated below it season average. The Swords average 3.7 goals per game. Cincinnati could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Swords were led by Ryan Sete, who scored the team's only goal. Sete scored 7:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cincinnati. Emil Sundstrom picked up the assist.

David Volkmann recorded 15 saves for Wisconsin. The Whalers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cincinnati's Joe Sheppard stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced.
