Chicago downs Cincinnati in overtime, 7-6 (OT)

Zac Edwards gave the Chicago Junior Bulldogs a 7-6 (OT) victory over the Cincinnati Swords when he scored 2:36 into the extra period.

Chicago came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Junior Bulldogs trailed 6-4 after a power play goal by Cincinnati's RJ Marshall at 8:09 in the third period. Chicago knotted things up at 6-6 on a goal by Luke Morin at 13:48 in the third period.

The Junior Bulldogs were paced by Edwards, who had one goal.

Chicago forced the Swords goalie Artie Haase to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots. The Junior Bulldogs bested their season scoring average. This season, Chicago averages 4.9 goals per contest.

Chicago also got points from Matt Kostopoulos, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Morin, who also registered one goal and one assist, and John Godfrey, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kyle Pierce also scored for Chicago. In addition, Chicago received assists from Daniel Marotz and Ryan Maksimovic, who each chipped in one.

Cincinnati kept the Junior Bulldogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Krch made 60 saves on 66 shots. The Swords' goal total was higher than their season average. Cincinnati has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Cincinnati additionally got points from Nikita Korotkov, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Cincinnati also got a goal from Jeremy Navarro as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cincinnati were Thomas Clayton and Robert Gentile, who contributed one a piece.

Chicago incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Swords' Haase stopped 50 shots out of the 57 that he faced. Cincinnati incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
