Alexandria holds on for 5-3 win against Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Whalers tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Alexandria Blizzard would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.

Alexandria took a 5-2 lead during the third period, only to have Wisconsin storm back on a Mitch Riese goal 15:06 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

Joe Anderson was all over the ice for the Blizzard, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Anderson scored on the power play 6:39 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Alexandria. Alexandria had taken the advantage when the Whalers' Nauris Buskevics got sent off for interference. Ian Ecklund assisted on the tally.

The Blizzard's offense rang up 34 shots on Wisconsin's net. Alexandria could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

Alexandria additionally got points from Ecklund, who also had one goal and one assist. Alexandria also got a goal from Tyler Sworsky as well. More assists for Alexandria came via Zach Kihle, who had two and Tre Kautzman, Bryce Mitzel, Jody Randall, Ethan Luck, and Aaron Ryback, who contributed one a piece.

The Whalers were helped by Adam Alcott, who finished with one goal. Alcott scored 14:15 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Alexandria. Easton Halbert picked up the assist. D.J. Mussey also scored for Wisconsin. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from Clayton Janecke, Dan Addie, and Connor Hyde, who each chipped in one.

Evan Bisek rejected 25 shots on goal for the Blizzard. Alexandria registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Michal Marcinek made 29 saves for Wisconsin on 34 shots. The Whalers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
