Pittsburgh blows out Michigan, 5-0

The Pittsburgh Vengeance were firing on all cylinders against the Michigan Mountain Cats, and when the final buzzer sounded Vengeance emerged with a 5-0 win.

Cody Black had two goals to lead Pittsburgh to victory. Black's tallies came on the power play at 9:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pittsburgh and on the power play 10:09 into the third to make the score 5-0 Pittsburgh.

Michigan's five penalties came back to haunt it, as the Mountain Cats let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Vengeance's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Michigan power plays. Pittsburgh's defensive play was more effective than usual against Michigan. The Vengeance average 2.4 goals allowed per game. Pittsburgh forced the Mountain Cats goalie Kevin OShea to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Pittsburgh also got points from Tom Diffendal, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Pittsburgh also got a goal from Thomas Leistner as well. More assists for Pittsburgh came via Tyler Speis, who had one and Kevin Kenny, Joseph Randazzo, Michael Straub, and Oskar Thorsen, who contributed two a piece.

Chase Stanford made 20 saves for the Vengeance on 20 shots. Pittsburgh incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. OShea rejected 31 shots on goal for Michigan. The Mountain Cats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
