Chicago survives penalties, beats Cincinnati, 6-3

The Chicago Junior Bulldogs' penalty kill was superb, as Chicago survived multiple penalties to beat the Cincinnati Swords, 6-3.

The Junior Bulldogs made Cincinnati's netminders to work without much rest, totaling 40 shots and forcing 34 saves. Alec Rounds made 28 stops and Joe Sheppard made six.

Chicago was led by Tyler Dalton, who finished with one goal and one assist. Dalton scored on the power play 10:51 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Chicago. A boarding penalty on Nikita Korotkov had put the Junior Bulldogs on the power play. Daniel Marotz provided the assist. Chicago also got points from Isaac Lamb, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Vince Bartkowiak also scored for Chicago. More assists for Chicago came via Matt Kostopoulos, Luke Morin, Matthew Mullally, Henry Hearon, Nathan Iaciancio, and Zac Edwards, who each chipped in one.

Chicago was unable to stop the Swords from sending pucks towards the net, and Cincinnati eventually piled up 55 shots on goal.

The Swords were helped by Thomas Clayton, who tallied one goal. Clayton scored 43 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cincinnati. RJ Marshall picked up the assist. Cincinnati additionally got points from Henry Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cincinnati also got a goal from Braden Smith as well. In addition, Cincinnati received assists from Devin Fracassi and Brenden Williams, who contributed one a piece.

Michael Paku recorded 52 saves for the Junior Bulldogs. Chicago incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Cincinnati incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
